EBU Faculty Area
The faculty area – also known as the staff room or faculty lounge – is one of the most important spaces for educators. The faculty area is the place where staff can consult with colleagues, discuss educational issues that maximise the learning of all students.
This is also the area for Faculty to grow and develop in their roles and express how best to realise this important feature at EBU.
EBU EXAMINERS/ASSESSORS
Examiners/Assessors are appointed to set the papers for the examinations, oversee the exam and also share responsibility for results with the course Instructor. Examiners mark papers, projects,summative assessments and other assessed work for individual students.
The role of an external examiner is to:
- Defend EBU standards by establishing whether or not a particular course is delivering academic standards broadly in line with those of other HE institutions.
- Ensure student assignments are being marked impartially, fairly and accurately
- Support the course instructor by giving input in the creation of the Midterm and Final Term Assessments
- Support the course instructor in reviewing results before returned them to students
Moodle Training Area
This course will introduce Moodle and present elearning instructional design tips and resources. You will experience this course as a student as it leads you through constructing a course with instructional content, engaging activities, communication and interaction objects, feedback and assessments.

Management and Leadership is designed to empower you with the skills you will need to make meaningful change in the world—whether you care about bike lanes, criminal justice, prenatal care, community development, urban planning, social investment, or
something else. Whatever your passion, you can only have an impact by leading and managing organizational processes. In this course, you will enhance the technical, interpersonal, conceptual, and political skills needed to run effective and efficient
organizations embedded in diverse communities, policy arenas, sectors, and industries. In class, we will engage in a collective analysis of specific problems that leaders and managers face, first, diagnosing them and then, identifying solutions to explore
how organizations can meet and exceed their performance objectives. As part of that process, you’ll encounter a variety of practical and essential topics and tools, including mission, strategy, goals, structure, teams, diversity and inclusion, motivation,
and negotiation.
CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR FACULTY MEMBERS
This course is designed for faculty members who wish to enhance their professional development and stay up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in their field. It aims to provide faculty members with the knowledge, skills, and tools needed to continuously improve their teaching, research, and service activities, as well as to enhance their career prospects.
The course will cover a range of topics related to professional development, including teaching strategies, research methodologies, leadership and management skills, communication and collaboration, and self-reflection and evaluation. Participants will learn about various approaches to professional development, such as attending conferences, workshops, and training sessions, engaging in collaborative projects, seeking mentoring and coaching, and using online resources and tools.
The course will also address issues related to diversity, equity, and inclusion in higher education, as well as ethical and legal considerations in academic work. Participants will have the opportunity to reflect on their own professional goals and interests, and develop a personalized plan for continuing professional development that aligns with their career aspirations.
Throughout the course, participants will engage in a range of learning activities, including lectures, discussions, case studies, self-reflection exercises, and collaborative projects. The course will be delivered through a combination of online and in-person sessions, with opportunities for peer-to-peer learning and networking.
